It’s actually a smart move because it makes it easier to convey the concerns and needs, but also the Kurdish perspective on things, to a large, international audience. Finally, one must not forget that there is no Kurdistan as an independent state. Rather, this is an ethnic group that extends to the border area of Türkiye, Syria, Iraq and Iran.

Shams TV, who or what is that?
We asked ourselves this question when we wanted to check whether Shams TV also had a live stream on the Internet. Under www.shamstv.com we actually found what we were looking for. However, we did not come across the website of a TV provider, but rather that of an IPTV platform operator. Here we also find the sun logo, which alternates on the TV channel with the lettering SHAMS as the station logo. So it must be the same provider. It seems like Shams TV is a kind of offshoot of this IPTV provider.
In any case, the information content of the Shams homepage is more than poor and on the subpages we mostly only saw the well-known error message “404 NOT FOUND”. At least from the homepage we see that Shams Arabic TV offers over 400 live channels. The spectrum of channels included in this package should include sports, films, religion, children’s programs, music and cooking.
There is no imprint or other detailed information on the site. Which means that further details about the new news channel on 7 degrees East remain unclear. What we do know is that the Shams homepage was created with WordPress. In any case, a link is provided to the user name and password input field so that changes can be made to the page.
