Daeheon Hwang, men’s 1500m gold
Kim Gil-li (Seongnam City Hall), the new Korean women’s short track ace, won a gold medal in the 1500m women’s short track general division at the 106th National Winter Sports Games.
Kim Gil-li beat Seo Hwi-min (2:35.446) and Kim Geon-hee (2:35.545, Seongnam City Hall) in the women’s short track women’s 1,500m final held at Songam Sports Town Ice Rink in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do on the 11th with 2:35.239. Climbed to the top.
Minjeong Choi, the star of Korean short track racing, did not compete in the 1500m.
In the men’s 1500m general division, Hwang Dae-heon (Gangwon Provincial Office) won the gold medal by crossing the finish line in 2 minutes 23.155 seconds. Jang Won-sik took second place (2 minutes 23.285 seconds), and third place went to Han Seung-su (2 minutes 23.348, Sports Toto).
Men’s national team ace Park Ji-won (Seoul City Hall) ranked 6th with 2 minutes 23.759 seconds.
This year’s Winter Sports Games will be held in Gangwon-do from February 18th to 21st. However, short track, speed skating, and figure skating are held as pre-events.
The short track will run from the 11th to the 14th at the same location.
