Umbilical kale is more nutritious than ordinary cabbage, it is resistant to diseases and cold, so it can be successfully grown in organic production. However, these are not even all the reasons to find kale in your gardens!
Professor Dr. Ivo Đinović from the company “Superior” explained to us what the cabbage plant is, the fruits of which are very popular in Belgrade markets these days under the name of cabbage.
„Cabbage belongs to the cabbage family. This plant has a large trunk and many fruits that grow in the axils of each leaf. There can be about a hundred fruits on one treei.e. 3kg yield.
They can be used in food, either pickled or fresh, in soups and other dishes. The old leaves dry up and fall off by themselves, and the young ones continue to feed the plant. Both the fruit and the leaves are edible and they can be ideal for wrapping sarma.”
One tree can have about a hundred fruits, that is, 3 kg of yield.
„The fruit has extremely nutritious and medicinal properties thanks to the high content of organic compounds. They protect it from the cold, because sugars and other organic compounds do not allow ice crystals to form in plant tissues and destroy the fine structure of cells.”
“After the first frosts, the fruit, normally bitter, becomes sweet. All this makes the plant an ideal food during the long winter months. Umbilical kale is more nutritious than regular cabbageit is resistant to diseases and cold, so it can be successfully grown in organic production.”
“Umbilical kale is not only food, but also medicine. It, like many other cabbages, contains vitamins that prevent the appearance of stomach ulcers. In addition, Kale fruits are very healthy and nutritious. One handful of so-called cabbage can replace a large head of cabbage in terms of the amount of minerals and vitamins.
