We probably all, or most of us, pay some kind of subscription, and it somehow belongs to the modern world today. We are used to paying, for example, for streaming services, but also for functions related to electronics, such as the ability to call from a watch or various subscriptions for wearable electronics. And soon we may be paying for phones too.

Samsung wants subscription phones

According to the latest news that came with the server Inteligentnisvet.czthe South Korean manufacturer wants to offer its phones via subscription. The subscription will take place within the previously introduced AI Subscription Club service, which Samsung originally launched for home appliances.

Thanks to it, the user can subscribe, i.e. rent, home appliances for a regular monthly fee instead of buying them at full price. And it will work with phones anyway. The user will pay a certain amount every month and will more or less have the device on rent.

Phones and tablets for a fee

In addition to phones, it will also be possible to use the subscription for Galaxy Tab tablets, and it is definitely an interesting model, especially for users who change electronics year after year. They won’t have to deal with the old model, they’ll just exchange it for a new one as part of the subscription and move on.

As part of this subscription, there will definitely be some kind of package that includes Galaxy AI as well. It will be completely free only until the end of 2025, after which it will switch to a paid model. So not everything, but the more advanced services will be charged.

Will we see it in the Czech Republic?

Samsung will launch subscriptions for its phones in February 2025, for now in Korea and the US. If successful, it is likely that the service will expand to other markets, although this has not yet been confirmed.

In home appliances, the subscription was a success with a positive response, accounting for 30% of Galaxy Store sales just three weeks after launch. So the potential here is really big, and we’ll see if it can be fulfilled in phones and tablets as well.
