Those who have an HDR10+ compatible device can rejoice.
Disney+ will soon join streaming platforms that support HDR10+ technology, allowing viewers an even more stunning visual experience. In addition to Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and Apple TV+, Disney+ will also offer this advanced dynamic range video format, further enhancing the quality of streaming.
The announcement was made at the CES 2025 technology conference by Marc Finer of Communication Research Inc. in the interpretation of his representative. According to Finer, subscribers with devices compatible with HDR10+ technology will soon be able to enjoy the benefits of the format, which significantly improves picture quality through richer contrast and dynamic changes in brightness.
HDR10+ technology is a competitor to Dolby Vision, which also optimizes the displayed image using frame-by-frame HDR metadata. However, HDR10+ also has advantages such as easier standardization, global certification, and free licensing. The technology was developed by Samsung and Panasonic and is now supported by more than 13,000 compatible devices, including the latest generation Apple TV 4K.
While there is no word yet on the exact release date of the innovation, it is certain that HDR10+ support is a significant milestone for Disney+. To enjoy the benefits offered by HDR10+, you will need compatible devices that support this technology.
