The crypto sector expects lighter regulation and wider adoption of cryptoassets under the new president, but there are also those who worry about systemic risks.
In mid-December, two triumphant groups gathered to celebrate their joint successes: the observant crypto industry and the family members of Donald Trump, the next US president-elect.
Trump’s second son, Eric, was the star speaker at the Bitcoin Mena 2024 conference in Abu Dhabi on December 10. Eric Trump assured an audience of industry representatives that his father intends to make good on his promise to be the “most crypto-friendly president” yet. Among other things, he titled the two movements the same establishment‘s victims.
“The petulance of this system … They made our lives really miserable,” he said of the U.S. government. “But without those attacks, I probably wouldn’t have had my eyes opened to the crypto industry as much… I saw how they harassed you. I saw them drain your bank accounts.”
