Tesla has revised the Model Y for 2025 and promises, among other things, more range and a more modern design. We show what is changing.
While Tesla boss Elon Musk is currently drawing attention to himself with numerous political excursions, his automobile company is presenting the latest version of the Tesla Model Y electric SUV. In addition to better efficiency and new comfort features, the striking design, which borrows from the futuristic Cybertruck, is particularly noticeable.
According to Tesla, the long-range all-wheel drive version offers a WLTP range of up to 551 kilometers on 19-inch wheels. With an acceleration of 4.3 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and a top speed of 210 km/h, the vehicle combines range and performance ideally for long-distance and city use.
The cheaper version with rear-wheel drive has a range of 466 kilometers and accelerates slightly slower to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. Both models currently lack the performance variant, which can be expected for later updates.
Aesthetically, the new Model Y has been significantly revised: the body is now adorned with continuous front and rear lights in the style of the Cybertruck. At the same time, the front end was redesigned, giving way to the distinctive “duckbill” hood for a smoother design. An additional camera in the front bumper is intended to improve the autopilot and parking assistance.
Tesla is also introducing new acoustic glass elements that are intended to optimize noise insulation, as well as an ambiently lit passenger cell that is intended to make the interior appear even more modern. A second screen in the rear increases comfort for passengers. The interior is not only more comfortable, but even more purist than before. Tesla, for example, does away with the classic PRND driving mode lever and relies on control innovations on the steering wheel. Functionally, the Model Y scores points with an electrically foldable rear seat.
In Australia and other markets this is updated Model Y can already be orderedprices for Germany have not yet been announced. Down Under it starts at 63,400 Australian dollars (AUD) (just over 38,000 euros, plus additional costs for road use). For Australia, depending on the model, additional costs for the basic equipment of AUD 3,500 (AWD) to AUD 7,500 (RWD) apply compared to the predecessor. That in turn is around 2,100 to 4,500 euros.
