The company will officially reveal the parameters only later.
At this year’s CES, AMD paid very little public attention to Radeons based on the RDNA 4 architecture, although many are waiting for them. Developments are officially arriving, first with Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT.

For the time being, the company officially states that the underlying chip is manufactured using TSMC’s 4 nm process, and that RDNA 4 has been improved in all aspects compared to RDNA 3. As a result, in addition to more efficient processing, the multimedia capabilities are also improved, and it also received innovations in terms of display management.
Regarding the developments, we learned that manufacturing partners will be given an unusually large amount of freedom to design unique designs. Even the Radeon RX 9070 XT can’t be considered overly greedy at the factory, but manufacturers can apply very powerful factory tuning. In this way, they also get a free hand in how much TBP they plan their better-kneaded solutions for. For this reason, the developments of individual partners may differ more than usual, but this can also be said to be beneficial, as it will be possible to choose from alternatives that cover a wider spectrum. By the way, the bigger companies all bring their own models, including Acer, ASRock, ASUS, GIGABYTE, Sapphire, PowerColor and XFX.
AMD is also making software improvements, one of which will be FidelityFX Super Resolution 4, FSR 4 for short. This is primarily developed for RDNA 4 and will offer AI-based processing at some stages of upscaling. In principle, FSR 4 itself will work with all games that already have FSR 3.1 built in, but AMD is primarily promoting the development with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Later, it will obviously be worthwhile for the developers to integrate FSR 4, since this will be the latest version and the technology will remain independent of the manufacturer. However, it will be necessary to take into account here that the best quality processing mode will not be available on all hardware. Although this is already true for FSR 3, there is not so much difference between the best and the less good modes. With FSR 4, however, the difference will be significant, similar to Intel’s XeSS, which offers the best performance with an Intel Arc GPU.
According to AMD, FSR4 will definitely work in the best way on RDNA 4 designs, and they are also investigating the possibility of which previous hardware should be allowed to use the new processing method.
Finally, the company is also preparing a new element for AMD Software’s graphics control panel. This would get a new AI tab from which the Adrenalin AI service would be available. With this, an image could be generated, a document summarized, and the built-in LLM would answer users’ questions about AMD solutions.
