“Sara Chierici never regretted it, she thought about not reporting”

The father of Mauro Glorioso, the young man confined to a wheelchair after being hit by a bike thrown by the Murazzi in Turin, replies to Sara Cherici, the girl sentenced to 16 years for those events despite having only participated as an observer. “His behavior was always consistent with that day, that is, worrying about not reporting his friends,” he declared.

Sara Chierici has a “absolute lack of an awareness of repentance” so the father of Mauro Gloriousthe young man forced into a wheelchair after being hit by a bike thrown from the Murazzi balustrade in Turin, replies to Sara Cherici, the girl sentenced to 16 years for those facts despite having only participated as an observer in the terrible gesture of January 21st last year.

Before the trial “No apology was ever made to Mauro after more than a year from the tragic events and four months in intensive care at the CTO in Turin” underlined Giuseppe Glorioso in an interview with Corriere della Sera, replying to the young woman, now 20 years old, who had spoken of a letter of apology to the young man’s family student affected.

The letter referred to dates back to the weeks preceding the preliminary hearing of the trial and had been accompanied by a request for restorative justice which however the judge did not accept after also receiving the negative opinion of Mauro Glorioso’s family.

“It’s not true that we haven’t repented, absolutely. I didn’t say anything about Mauro at the trial, it’s true, but I wrote him a three-page letter. It took me three months to write it with the help of my sister and the psychologist” Sara Cherici explained in an interview with Repubblica. Even for the judge, however, no regret is evident from that letter.

“The feelings of guilt will never give me peace. It’s not true that it was a collective idea, I don’t know why my friend said certain things. We were behind them, side by side. How could we imagine? She also declared that she realized that Mauro had been hit, which is not possible because we couldn’t see anything from where we were. She and I didn’t do anything and I wouldn’t report her today either” the young woman added.

That day “he did not scream”, “he did not immediately call an ambulance”, today “it is consistent with his behavior from 21 January to 9 February 2023, i.e. worry about not reporting your friends” replied Giuseppe Glorioso, concluding: “Today I think it was good that there were so many cameras, because otherwise Mauro would not have received justice.”
