The 26-year-old Belarusian wants to become the seventh player to win her third consecutive women’s singles title at the Australian Open and the first since Martina Hingis in 1999.
“I am very happy to be back. I love this place and we have a full stadium, I couldn’t have dreamed of more”, declared Sabalenka.
“I definitely feel at home,” she added, according to the BBC.
Sabalenka is the heavy favorite for the Australian Open women’s title.
She will face in the next round the Spanish Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, who eliminated the British Sonay Kartal.
