Ensuring Food Stocks for Food Security: Food Advisory

Ali Imam Majumder, food adviser, said that food reserves must be ensured for the food security of the people of the country.

He said this at a discussion meeting on achieving the target of the current Aman Collection 2024-25 at Barisal Circuit House on Monday.

In the meeting, Ali Imam Majumdar emphasized on ensuring food stock for the food security of the people of the country and gave necessary instructions to all the Deputy Commissioners of Barisal Division including RC Food and DC Food to achieve the target of current Amon collection.

He also advised all concerned to achieve the target of food collection in the current Aman season through coordination.

The advisor also directed to collect paddy from farmers through apps as well as collect paddy from farmers subject to attestation of the National Identity Card (NID) of the farmers in areas where apps are having problems.

The Food Advisor directed the concerned District Commissioners and regional level officials of Food Directorate to take necessary steps to stop illegal food stocking. He expects everyone’s cooperation to procure food within the stipulated time as per the agreement made in coordination with the respective mill owners.

In order to provide price support to the farmers, the current interim government has increased the procurement price of paddy by 3 taka to 33 taka, the procurement price of rice has also been increased by 3 taka to 47 taka and parboiled rice to 46 taka.

It was informed in the exchange meeting that the deadline for collection of paddy and boiled rice has been fixed till January 28 and Atap rice till March 15.

In the meeting, the concerned officials said that the collection of paddy and rice in the current Amon season is satisfactory and it is expected that the target will be met within the stipulated time.

Director General of Food Directorate, Divisional Commissioner of Barisal Division, RC Food, Deputy Commissioner of all districts of Barisal Division, DC Food and related officials were present in the meeting.
