Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. announced today that its Neo QLED and Lifestyle TVs have been awarded the “EyeCare Circadian” certificate by the Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), the leading electrotechnical certification institute in Germany. This recognition highlights Samsung’s commitment to developing technology that supports the natural daily biorhythm and promotes well-being and visual comfort.
“This certification confirms our commitment to creating products that enhance the user experience by prioritizing visual comfort and reducing eye strain, while offering exceptional image quality,” said Tijong Sun, executive vice president of display products at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to introduce innovations that anticipate and adapt to user needs, offering both immersive entertainment and sustainable long-term comfort.”
This certification covers the flagship models of the Neo QLED and Lifestyle lines, including The Frame and The Serif. When determining when a product is ready to obtain a certificate, it is evaluated on the basis of six key criteria: eye safety, eye protection, degree of flickering, uniformity, believability of colors and the daily biorhythm stimulus index – in order to assess visual comfort and compliance with the daily biorhythm.
Key to earning this accolade is Samsung’s eye comfort mode, which automatically adjusts brightness and color temperature based on the time of day and ambient light conditions. By simulating natural light patterns, this mode reduces stress during the day and promotes a soothing environment at night, in harmony with the body’s natural rhythm.
This certificate is another in a series of recognitions for Samsung TV devices, which confirms that users are the first priority for this company’s products and their functions. The Neo QLED series has previously obtained the VDE institute’s daily biorhythm screen certification, while Samsung Lifestyle TVs have received the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) non-glare screen certification to reduce eye strain. In addition, Samsung TVs have been validated by Pantone for exceptional color accuracy.
