According to the Jimu Newspaper on the 12th (local time), tourist A recently spent 190,000 yen (approximately 1.78 million won) to eat at the Tokyo, Japan branch of the famous Chinese restaurant ‘Shillungji’ (新荣记), which he provided to other guests. It was claimed that the food was made using relatively inexpensive ingredients rather than high-quality ingredients.

Mr. A claimed, “When high-end dishes containing various seafood were served to Japanese customers, I was served chicken dishes, etc. Also, snow crab was not served because it was out of season and was of poor quality.”

Additionally, Mr. A claims that he received white rice instead of the pot rice served to the Japanese customer.

As the controversy intensified, on the 11th, the manager of Shinrungji’s Tokyo branch admitted his mistake and officially apologized, saying, “There was a lack of prior confirmation of the menu.”

Shillongji is a high-end Chinese restaurant that started in Zhejiang, China in 1995 and is currently headquartered in Shanghai.
