How to calculate the 2025 car tax

The amount of the car tax is calculated based on the engine power, expressed in kW, and to the environmental class of the vehicle (Euro 0, 1, 2, etc.). For the first 100 kW a basic rate is applied, while for each kW over 100 a higher rate is applied. For example, for a Euro 6 vehicle, the rate is €2.58 per kW up to 100 kW and €3.87 for each kW above 100. To facilitate the calculation, the Automobile Club of Italy (ACI ) provides a service online.

Where to pay the 2025 car tax

Payment can be made through different methods:

  • Online: via the ACI website, the portal of your region of residence or payment apps such as Satispay.
