New Tesla Model Y: more cm, known horsepower

Autoland was recently introduced to the updated Tesla Model Y. The Tesla Model Y has a completely new front, a significantly revised butt and has also been finely honed on a technical level. In keeping with tradition, Tesla does not share extensive data on the new Model Y, including the power of the electric motors. AutoWeek has managed to dig up a handful of technical specifications for the new Model Y from the database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Please note: this concerns the updated Model Y as it will be sold in China. The European variants may be equipped with different hardware. The new Tesla Model Y is more than 4 centimeters longer than the original due to its new front and rear sides. The SUV now extends over a distance of 4.8 meters. It is striking that the wheelbase has become one millimeter shorter according to the Chinese specifications, but that could also be a rounding difference. What we also know: the Model Y will be marketed in China at least as a 299 hp rear-wheel drive and will also have an All-Wheel Drive version with a 264 hp electric motor at the rear and a 186 hp electric motor at the front. The rear-wheel drive variant is therefore just as powerful as the outgoing Model Y Rear Wheel Drive. It weighs 1,921 kilos and has a top speed of 201 km/h. The All-Wheel Drive version is of course heavier (1,992 kilos) and has the same top speed. We do not yet have data for the Model Y Rear Wheel Drive Long Range and for the All-Wheel Drive Performance. The Tesla Model Y Rear Wheel Drive should be able to reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 5.9 seconds. The four-wheel drive variant reaches that speed after just 4.3 seconds. The range of the Model Y Rear Wheel Drive is 593 kilometers according to the Chinese CLTC cycle, that of the All-Wheel Drive is 719 kilometers. The European variants of the updated Tesla Model Y, and therefore also intended for the Netherlands, have yet to be presented.
