The most special things at CES 2025 – io-tech.fi

At the CES trade fair, a car equipped with an accompanying electric helicopter, wearable solar panels and cute little robots caught the eye with their special features.

Last week’s CES fair saw a lot of interesting and expected new products for both the computer and mobile markets. However, there was a long line of even more special products, from which we selected the best for this news.

Mecha Comet is a Linux-based modular mobile device that bends to many things. The device with a 3.4″ IPS screen has a processor with four 1.8 GHz Cortex-A53 cores, 4 GB of LPDDR4 memory and 32 GB of eMMC storage space. Connections are possible via Wi-Fi 5, BT 5.0 and a gigabit network connection, and an M.2 connection (PCIe 2.0 x1), Trust Anchor and crypto accelerator and a 5 megapixel camera are also included. The operating system is Debian-based Mechanix OS Linux.

However, the special feature of the device is not its iron, but its modularity. Gamepad, GPIO and QWERTY modules are offered as standard for the front expansion slot, but the company’s own standard modules are just a drop in the ocean. According to the marketing speeches, for example, Raspberry Pi’s HAT extensions and Mikroebus Click extensions also fit Mecha Comet as such, and nothing prevents the user from creating their own modules. For example, the company envisions the device as a suitable phone with an LTE module, as a reader that connects to the OBD or CAN ports of cars, or as a nano-sized satellite for world conquest.

Yukai Engineering brought the attention-seeking Mirumi robot to the fair, which can be attached to a bag or a backpack, for example. A furry robotic animal equipped with a motion sensor turns its head and follows passers-by with its eyes. On the cute line is the same company’s Nékojita FuFu, which sits on the edge of the cup and blows into the hot liquid to cool it for the user.

The EcoFlow Power Hat, Anker Solix Solar Umbrella and Solix Solar Cape are novelties suitable for fashion-conscious power users of mobile devices. The first mentioned is a solar hat equipped with solar panels, which has USB-A and USB-C connectors for charging devices with the power of the sun. Anker’s Solix Solar Umbrella and Cape are, on the other hand, a parasol equipped with solar panels for yard use with a maximum charging power of 100 watts and a garment covered with solar panels worn on the shoulders with a maximum charging power of 30 watts.

Many people like salty food, but on the other hand, it would be good to avoid using extra salt. The Kirin Electric Salt Spoon aims to bring a solution to this by using an electric current that makes food taste saltier. The spoon, which works at four different strengths, concentrates the sodium atoms of the food together with an electric current, making the spoon taste saltier than it actually is.

For fans of electric cars, the Chinese Xpeng Land Aircraft Carrier was on display at the fair. The large rear compartment of the electric SUV, somewhat reminiscent of a Cybertruck and equipped with no less than six tires, is equipped with an accompanying two-seater eVTOL Air Module helicopter, which guarantees that the exploration is not limited by road restrictions.
