The KB Kookmin Bank union overwhelmingly supported the strike, demanding 300% performance bonus and 10 million won.

According to the Kookmin Bank union on the 15th, the union held a vote on the pros and cons of industrial action (general strike) on the 14th, and as a result, 9,274 out of 9,702 union members who participated in the vote (voter turnout of 88.22%), or 95.59%, voted in favor.

On the 26th of last month, the union declared the breakdown of collective wage negotiations and applied for mediation of the labor dispute with the Central Labor Relations Commission (CLA) under the Ministry of Employment and Labor. However, as no agreement was reached through mediation, the CWCC decided to suspend mediation.

In the current collective wage negotiation, the union is demanding ▲ bonus (performance bonus) 300% (based on regular wage) + 10 million won ▲ wage increase rate of 2.8% ▲ expansion of new hiring ▲ increase in congratulations and condolences ▲ improvement of the medical expense support system ▲ improvement of the peak wage system.

If KB Kookmin Bank goes on strike, it will be the first strike in six years since 2019.

A KB Kookmin Bank official said, “The union vote was in favor, but if a strike actually takes place, customers will inevitably experience inconvenience, so we will gather opinions with the union as quickly as possible through additional negotiations.”

According to the 2023 business report, the average salary per employee at KB Kookmin Bank is around 120 million won.
