(Seoul = Newsis) Reporter Cho Hyun-ah = Seoul Jung-gu announced on the 15th that it will specially issue ‘Jung-gu People’s Livelihood Recovery Gift Certificates’ worth a total of 4 billion won on the 20th, ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

The district promoted this special issuance by urgently investing 307.5 million won in reserve funds as the recent economic downturn weakened residents’ consumer sentiment and aggravated difficulties for small business owners and the self-employed.

Gift certificates can be purchased at a 5% discount through the Seoul Pay Plus app. Each person can purchase up to 500,000 won per month and hold up to 1.5 million won.

The district is also holding an event where 2% of the amount used will be paid back (refunded) in the following month. In this case, consumers can enjoy a discount of up to 7%.

However, in order to promote local consumption in a short period of time, the validity period of the gift certificate will be shortened to 6 months.

Gift certificates can be used at Jung-gu Love Gift Certificate (Seoul Pay Plus) affiliated stores. If you purchase with cash, such as by bank transfer or check card, you can also use the gift function.

If the gift certificate is not used, you can receive a full refund, and if it is partially used, you must use more than 60% of the gift certificate to receive a refund for the remaining amount. You need to be careful as the balance of gift certificates purchased with a credit card cannot be refunded.

Kim Gil-seong, head of Jung-gu District Office, said, “I hope this will help residents prepare for the Lunar New Year holiday and serve as an opportunity to revitalize the local commercial district. We will continue to work hard to prepare policies to revitalize the local economy.”
