Gwangjin-gu (Chief Kim Kyung-ho) successfully fulfilled its pledge by exceeding its 2024 job creation goal.
Gwangjin-gu aimed to create 6,000 public jobs per year in the field of economic vitality and achieve 66,500 people insured by employment insurance per year.
Accordingly, the district established five core strategies, including ▲ regional development and infrastructure creation ▲ direct job creation ▲ (re)employment support ▲ youth policy ▲ support for start-ups and small business owners, and promoted 137 projects in 26 departments to directly create jobs.
6,318 direct jobs were provided, including ‘Gwangjin Happy Jobs’, ‘Gwangjin Youth Jobs’, and ‘Jobs for the Elderly and the Disabled’, which is an achievement of 105.3% of the goal.
In addition to direct job creation, we promoted employment support programs such as customized employment consulting ‘Visiting Job Center’, practical-oriented ’employment competency strengthening training’, and ‘Job Fair’ held in cooperation with the district and related organizations to help residents find jobs.
In addition, we operated programs such as the ’50+ Counseling Center’ and ‘4th Industry Education’ to support re-employment and social participation of the elderly.
Through this, the number of employment insurance insured people as of the end of November 2024 was 66,942, achieving the expected goal early.
Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “Having a stable job is a very important part of our lives,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to create an environment where all residents can fully demonstrate their abilities through various policies.”
