The children were greeted by a warm atmosphere, created especially for them in the “Apolodor din Labrador” Ludoteca. Here, the educator Câmpeanu Raluca Elena, together with a representative of the library, presented them with colorful books, stories and fascinating illustrations, through which the little ones discovered characters and legends from Romanian literature. Although many are just learning to read, their curiosity was immediately piqued and countless questions helped them explore, step by step, the wonderful world of books.
In addition to the reading, the activities also included an introduction to Romanian music. In the framework of “Little Melomani”, the children listened to compositions signed by George Enescu, such as Romanian Rhapsody no. 1, and were able to form their first impressions of the refined sounds of the violin or piano. To make everything even more attractive, the little ones had the opportunity to handle simple musical instruments such as tambourines, maracas and xylophones, accompanied by classical chords.
The highlight was the workshop where, with the help of materials available to anyone and the assistance of the teaching staff, these preschoolers made their own miniature violin. The hands-on experience captivated them all and their joy was evident as soon as they started to ‘sing’ on these little improvised instruments, proving that imagination can work wonders when channeled constructively.
The Dan Voiculescu Foundation for the Development of Romania considered it essential to give children an unforgettable memory, convincing them that reading and culture can be fun and full of learning at the same time. Through this project, the foundation continues its mission to cultivate love for national values, starting right from kindergarten. When children fall in love with reading, music and art from an early age, the chances of developing a society that is more educated and open to its own heritage are considerably higher. So, instead of being distracted only by tablets and phones, the little ones at “Happy Planet Kids” received an invaluable gift: a whole day dedicated to books, music and the joy of discovery.
