Ukraine and Russia exchange prisoners / Day

This is the first exchange of prisoners this year, but since Russia’s repeated invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, dozens of exchanges have been carried out, returning thousands of soldiers.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that 25 people are returning home, several of whom fought at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol. The President revealed that several of those released were civilians.

“Ukraine is constantly working to bring our people back home, and we will not stop until we get all our people back,” Zelensky said on the “X” platform. He posted photos of some of those released, including a man undergoing a medical examination and a man sitting in a car holding a Ukrainian flag.

“Many of them have serious injuries and illnesses,” Zelensky said.

The exchange of hostages was facilitated by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
