Last night Daily simultaneously hosted comedian Gad Elmaleh and actor Vincent Lindon. Which led to some absolutely lunar exchanges. Yann Barthes’ interview made the rounds on social networks, the fault of this astonishing conversation between the two stars. We’ll give you an overview.

Last night, viewers of the show Daily witnessed a instantly cult exchange between Gad Elmaleh and Vincent Lindon. The two stars exchanged a few words, which already gave the lunarest television sequence of 2025.
Vincent Lindon was present, surrounded by young actors Benjamin I could et Stefan Creponto promote the film Play with firewaited for January 22 next in cinemas. After their promotional moment, Gad Elmaleh arrives on set to talk about his new show: Himself. And that’s where things go wrong.
The two French stars had some rather strange interactions. Even now, we do not know if it was simply a slightly cringe but good-natured humor, or if there was a form of provocation. A series of strange punchlines
Already, when Gad Elmaleh arrives on the set of Daily, Vincent Lindon can’t help but let go his first slightly suspicious joke :
It’s over, I tell you, it’s not worth it, just for fun, don’t try anything. I tell you with modesty, we crash and listen.
Vincent Lindon would have done better to listen to his own advice… It’s already a little strange but for the moment the audience and Gad are laughing in good faith.
Then, no doubt to lighten the atmosphere, Gad Elmaleh also arrives at the expense of his neighbor at the table:
I know his work well. I have a lot of admiration for him. He’s going to be a little shy and uncomfortable so he’s going to say weird things.
And the least we can say is that the comedian was right. Quickly, Gad Elmaleh gets into gear before Lindon can respond and explains that he went to the conservatory. He specifies that at the time, he rubbed shoulders with the father of Benjamin Voisinto whom he says hello. The comedian then specifies that he has, moreover, failed the conservatory. And that’s when Vincent Lindon returns to the attack:
It’s always nice to miss the conservatory. It’s chic when you’re a big star to say that you missed something. So can you imagine the talent I have? I got through it. I know this by heart.
To which Gad Elmaleh will simply respond with a simple and distant response: “He’s incredible.” Vincent Lindon starts to get a little embarrassed before retorting: “He’s here, he’s alive.”
Are you warmed up? Because things are going to get even stranger. The two actors will not let go of each other, and string together punchlines aimed at each other. Gad will tell Vincent that he is an actor and that’s why he has free time. Vincent will tell Gad that the dot on the i in the title of his show is missing. Gad will tell Vincent that he basically needs to stop talking because the subject of the interview concerns his show. And this, for a fifteen minutes.
In fact, the longer the interview goes on, the more Gad Elmaleh s’agace gentiment. Vincent Lindon’s repeated interventions were probably starting to get on his system. And if the two stars obviously remained very professional, Gad Elmaleh had difficulty hiding his exasperation. In fact, we don’t really know why. but Vincent Lindon tried to improvise as a comedian. For example, he answered in Gad’s place on a question concerning comedians, as if he were a stand-up himself. He even tried to make jokes Yann Bartheswhich unfortunately fell through, for example when he asks the host to ask his question more kindly to Gad.
Gad Elmaleh will also report the strange atmosphere which reigns at this precise moment of the interview:
I don’t know about you, but I find this interview very weird. But I like Yann Barthes.

The icing on the cake comes when Gad Elmaleh leaves in a very serious statement about his professional development. Vincent Lindon once again interrupts the comedian to emphasize, basically, that he is knocking open doors:
I’m interrupting you because as much as it’s been great so far, I think we’re evolving… Yes, we’re all evolving.
A totally lunar sentence, accentuated by the silence which reigns at that moment, and the terribly haughty tone of the actor. Gad reacts rather well with yet another joke to lighten the atmosphere, once again…
But it is from this moment that Gad is no longer able to hide his frustration and retorts, in a rather cold manner:
Wait, I’ll finish. Can we remember the release date of his film? Vincent Lindon’s film is released on January 22. I advise you to go see it, and can we applaud Vincent Lindon please.
Where how to tell a huge star of French cinema to put it on the back burner with class and tact. It was at this moment that Vincent Lindon understood the problem. The actor no longer knows where to stand, understands that he is taking up too much space, and tells Gad not to mention the release date of his film. Too late, Gad has just fired the last shot in this strange exchange.
Room for excuses
Later in the interview, Yann Barthes started the game “who said what”. He takes out a sign with the words “If I crossed paths I would get extremely exasperated.” Vincent Lindon takes advantage of this opening to apologize to Gad Elmaleh:
It was me who said that. This evening, for example, I’m getting exasperated. I’ve changed my mood for a minute and it’s working well for me. Because it’s not my job to make people laugh, I made a little joke too much, and I apologize for that. It was ridiculous, all of a sudden to say “we are evolving”. And he blew my nose well. He said “well we’re going to applaud Vincent Lindon”. And suddenly, you didn’t see it, but my feet were curled up in my shoes. Look, I’m sweating. In fact I hate being smart.
