The number of building permits issued in Serbia in November 2024 recorded a significant decrease compared to the same period of the previous year. According to official data, 2,811 permits were issued, which represents a decrease of 16.3%. Most of these permits, as much as 85.3%, refer to buildings, while the rest (14.7%) belong to other types of buildings.

A more detailed analysis of data from the Republic Institute of Statistics shows that within the category of buildings, 85.8% of permits refer to residential buildings, while the remaining 14.2% are non-residential buildings. When it comes to other buildings, pipeline construction projects, communication and power installations dominate, with a share of 70.2%.
Data on the planned construction of apartments reveal that in November, the construction of 2,391 apartments was reportedwith an average area of 74.7 square meters. The majority of apartments (84%) will be built in multi-apartment buildings, where the average apartment size will be 60.6m2. On the other hand, only 14.1% of apartments will be built in buildings with one apartment, where the average area is significantly larger – 151.3m2.
When it comes to the value of the works, new construction projects account for 85.9% of the total estimated value construction works in November.
Belgrade region leads in terms of construction activity with 28.4% of the total value, while behind it are Zapadnobačka (9.7%), Nišavska (9.5%), Južnobačka (6.6%) and Severnobačka oblast (6.1%). . In the remaining parts of Serbia, construction works account for between 0.1% and 5.7% of the total value.
