Russian car manufacturer Avtovaz announces that it sold 30 percent more cars in 2024, with slightly weaker growth than the market as a whole, according to data from the specialized company Autostat.
Avtovaz sold 459,000 cars to customers last year, the Russian news agency cites TASS data from the presentation presented at the press conference.
When vehicles delivered to authorized car dealerships are included, the figure reaches almost 525,000, said company president Maksim Sokolov.
Last year, according to him, Avtovaz was the leading company on the Russian market with a share of around 28 percent of total sales. The production of Lada cars increased by 40 percent, to 525,600 cars, the most in the past ten years, he says. Hina.
Continued market recovery
Lane sold a total of 1,571 million new cars in Russia, 48.4 percent more than in 2023, cites Reuters data from the specialized analytical group Autostat. The Russian car market shrank in 2022 as Western manufacturers left Russia en masse following the entry of Russian troops into Ukraine. Western sanctions against Moscow were an additional problem.
Since the end of 2022, sales have been continuously recovering, only to falter in December after vehicles rose significantly in price in conditions of high inflation, increased interest rates and waste fees.
In December, a total of 123,431 vehicles were sold in Russia, for only 3.3 percent more than at the end of 2023. As many as eight out of 10 leading positions on the popularity ladder were occupied by Chinese brands, according to Autostat.
In 2025, sales should decrease by about 10 percent, to 1.43 million vehicles, Autostat head Sergej Tselikov said in December. The director of Avtovaz said in November that due to increased interest rates, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles could decrease by around 25 percent in 2025, according to a news agency report.
