As stated in the Press Release for the event:
The Art of Cultural Diplomacy highlights the fundamental concepts and practices of the field of Cultural Diplomacy, offering an innovative approach to understanding the diffusion of power in foreign policy.
This book treats the subject of Cultural Diplomacy and studies the new practices emerging in the field of foreign policy, in an effort to reposition the concept of culture within the general theoretical framework of international relations.
The book sets the theoretical framework for understanding how power is diffused in the exercise of Cultural Diplomacy. The practices and tools with which the most advanced states in the world practice Cultural Diplomacy are recorded, with the aim of identifying through comparative analysis the gaps in the operation, management and planning of Greek Cultural Diplomacy.
The interdisciplinary approach followed for a better understanding of the subject, places Cultural Diplomacy in an anthropological background, since culture defines said diplomacy.
In this context, the religious dimension could not be absent in the exercise of foreign policy. The element of religion plays a particularly important role in understanding the culture of a people and is carefully examined in the book, as a product of the already formed culture of a people, which reveals the internal organization of a state, but also the fears and expectations of a people. For this reason, the intellectual background of the cultures is comparatively analyzed on the basis of their historical and social context, and the conclusions and findings arising from the dimensions of the culture, as well as from the effect it exerts on the foreign policy of the states, are listed.
