Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 10 this October.
Microsoft has recently published several specific dates regarding the end of support for selected versions of the Windows operating system and the Office suite. These dates are especially important so that users know how long their software will remain protected with security updates and whether it will continue to be compatible with newer features and modern hardware.
According to official sources, support for Windows 10 operating system will end on October 14, 2025. As for Office, the important date is April 11, 2023, when Microsoft ended support for Office 2013. Office 2016 and Office 2019 versions remain supported until October 14, 2025. , just like Windows 10.
Despite the fact that Microsoft 365 offers continuous innovations, security patches and news, its full functionality is tied to the use of a supported operating system. The end of support for older editions of Windows, including the still relatively widely used Windows 10, means that new features and updates for Microsoft 365 may not be available or may work only to a limited extent. The risk lies mainly in the fact that without security patches the system remains more vulnerable to attacks and may become incompatible with the latest tools or services.
Of course, there is no need to panic and immediately change your computer or laptop, unless their hardware does not meet the requirements of Windows 11. After October 14, everything, including the Microsoft 365 package, will continue to work, only in the absence of updates, the system will be more and more open to possible attacks, and of course also less stable. Therefore, at least at the end of the year, the transition to Windows 11 should be seriously considered – even if this requires the purchase of new hardware.
