Entry-level Socket AM5 board with the Biostar logo

The 24.4 x 24.4 cm novelty featuring the AMD B850 control bridge was not too cheap.

Biostar came up with a microATX format motherboard, which it made for AMD 7000, 8000, and 9000 series processors, and intended mostly for office applications, all-in-one machines, machines of small businesses, and possibly system integrators. THE B850MT-E Pro the so-called 55-amp Dr.MOS VRM solution is based on the AMD B850 control bridge, and the aluminum rib on the voltage regulator circuits hangs over its back panel connectors.

The four DIMM sockets can handle up to 256 GB of DDR5 memory tuned to an effective clock of 8000 MHz as part of overclocking, and both the x16 PCI Express 5.0 and the x16 PCI Express 4.0 bus wired for x4 bandwidth have been confirmed with metal. Two of the three available M.2 2280 slots come with a PCI Express 5.0 interface (the third is a 4.0 standard), while two SATA ports await our classic storage devices, and a Realtek RTL8125D controller directs 2.5 gigabit Ethernet for network connectivity. .

If we want to be cable-free in this area, we will have to insert the separately purchased Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module into the idle M.2 2230 Key E connector. The role of the audio codec is performed by an eight-channel Realtek ALC897, and in the I/O department, an HDMI 2.1 output, a 1.2 DisplayPort, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, four USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, plus two USB 2.0 ports can be registered on the three 3.5 mm jacks, the LAN, as well as the BIOS Update button.

The specification list also mentions two antenna sockets, but we couldn’t spot them in the pictures, so we can only hope that this story is not a precursor to a visit to the ophthalmologist. One USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, and four USB 2.0 sockets can be connected to the front panel, while our system cooling fans can share two rows of PWM spikes. Our lights sprinkled with addressable LEDs can be connected to four 5-volt and one 12-volt RGB headers, so only the future purchase price – which will probably be an affordable amount – is questionable.
