Ski, Goggia and Brignone fly in the second test in Cortina and Vonn returns to the fall: “My butt hurts”

On Thursday Brignone had finished in first position ahead of Goggia, sSometimes it was Sofia’s turn to precede Fede in the order of arrival. The two blue champions continue to dictate the law in the World Cup downhill trials in Cortina. They are the protagonists announced in the “real” race, the one scheduled for 11am on Saturday, where they will be able to hunt for a prestigious victory and precious points in terms of the general classification.

Goggia and Brignone still in front in qualifying

In the first test Brignone had literally taken flightpreceding Goggia. In the second, it was the girl from Bergamo who stole the show with a sumptuous performance: one minute, 34 seconds and 63 hundredths to complete the descent of the legendary Olympia delle Tofane slope. For Sofia the best partial in two sectors and some timid uncertainty only at the start and at the end, enough to relegate Federica to 68 cents, protagonist of a more “controlled” timed trial than the previous day, but still in great shape. Back to the other blue ones: Curtoni 17th, Nadia and Nicol Delago 20th and 22nd, Bassino 28th, Pirovano 29th, Thaler, Melesi and Bernardi in the rear.

Downhill: Gut-Behrami the most dangerous rival

The most dangerous rivals for the two top Italians? The “usual” Lara Gut-Behrami, first of all, third, just one hundredth behind Brignone. And then Breezy Johnson, Valerie Grenier e Isabella Wrightall with delays of less than a second, even if the American’s time was not recorded. And speaking of stars and stripes champions: fortieth time for Lindsey Vonnwith three seconds and 39 seconds behind Goggia. The American measured her risks and energy after the fall the previous day, about which she still reassured everyone.

Vonn reassures: “I’m fine and I’m aiming for the podium”

“I am fine, I just got a lot of air on the last jump, landed on my skis and then it all happened very quickly“, clarified the 40-year-old blonde champion to Eurosport. “My skis took over and I fell, my airbag went off, I fell but I feel fine. I just have a few bruises, my butt is a little sorebut otherwise I’m fine.” There are also no problems with the titanium prosthesis applied to her knee, so much so that the American is optimistic: “I’m doing great, I’m improving very quickly. I’m aiming for the podium this weekend“.
