The iPhone SE 2025 surfaced in new photos this week. The dummy models give you a good idea of what the new affordable iPhone should look like. But the presentation will have to wait a while. According to analysts, Apple wants to introduce the new ‘iPhone SE 4’ in March or April.
A notable rumor in recent weeks is that the device may be called the iPhone 16e, but with Apple you never know for sure until the announcement. What else has been leaked?
The iPhone SE 2025 will have a completely different design. The current iPhone SE still has an old design with a home button, but the successor will have a design that is very similar to the iPhone 16 with an aluminum casing and flat sides. It feels like a logical step, because Apple usually reuses the design of a previous iPhone in a new SE, instead of giving the budget device its own design.
Unlike the iPhone 16, there would be no action button or camera control on the iPhone SE 2025. You do get the familiar switch to quickly silence your SE. The new SE would only be available in two colors: white and black.
OLED screen and Touch ID
The iPhone SE 2025 would have a 6.1-inch OLED screen, the same screen as the iPhone 13 and 14. This means that there is no longer an iPhone with an LCD screen.
The home button with Touch ID disappears and makes way for Face ID. Lightning is also being replaced by USB-C. Due to the lack of USB-C in the current iPhone SE, Apple had to stop selling the device in Europe at the end of 2024.
Fast chip
The new iPhone SE would have a relatively fast chip considering the price. This would be the A18 from the iPhone 16 or the A17 Pro from the iPad Mini. This makes the device suitable for using Apple Intelligence. For that reason, the phone will also have 8 GB of RAM. Apple Intelligence will be available on iOS in the Netherlands from April. The device is also said to have Apple’s first own 5G modem chip, which should be beneficial for battery life.
Camera
The new SE will again only have one camera on the back and one with 48 megapixels. This allows you to zoom in to simulate 2x optical zoom. The front camera would remain at 12 megapixels.
Will it become more expensive?
According to rumors, the new iPhone SE will be slightly more expensive than the previous model, which had a recommended retail price of 529 euros in our country. The higher price is also logical given the new parts in the device. A price is taken into account that is several tens of euros higher, but still remains below 600 euros.
