First test version of iOS 8.1 with Apple Intelligence available for developers

Apple has released a first beta of iOS 18.1 for developers. In it, the first functions of Apple Intelligence can be tested. The beta is even available for Dutch users who have set the US as their country, but they will be put on a waiting list to be able to use the AI functions. In the EU, Apple Intelligence will not work anyway.

This first beta includes a limited number of features announced by Apple in June, such as Writing Tools, which allow you to rewrite texts in Mail, Notes and Pages, for example.

Also launching in this release is the new version of Siri with a glowing border around the screen, as well as automatic categorization of emails based on content, summarization of the contents of an email, and more.

Transcripts of audio notes and telephone conversations are also available, for now only in English.

Image generator Image Playground, Genmoji and ChatGPT integration are still missing.

Apple also released macOS Sequoia 15.1 for Macs with M1 chips at the same time. iPad 18.1 also requires the use of the M1 chip. Most features won’t be rolled out until next year.
