a 612 HP biturbo V8 delicious on the road and beastly on the track

The new Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+designed to be squeezed to the maximum on the track and offer the best performance on the road, unites the best of two worlds. It has been the last member of the AMG GT family to arrive and, until the GT R PRO arrives, it sits at the top of the GT 63 range alongside the GT 63 SE, but with a 612 HP biturbo V8 under the hood.

This sports coupe, which has the most powerful versions of the Porsche 911 in its sights, now offers more power, improved cooling and brutal tuning for superior performance and driving dynamics. To check it, we have had the privilege of driving it on the Ascari Circuit (Málaga), and these are our impressions.

Features of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+, the spiciest GT 63 to date

In Affalterbach they wanted to further round out their most practical supercar, as they tell us that “based on customer demand to improve daily practicality compared to the previous version”, the second generation of the AMG GT 63 It is slightly softer, more comfortable and practical than before. In addition, it offers better visibility and a more spacious feeling.

Blessed be the maxim here that ‘the customer is always right’, because thanks to them it was born Mercedes-AMG’s spiciest GT 63 to datewhich debuted at the last Goodwood Festival of Speed. “We have increased engine performance and improved aerodynamics with elements such as the new front apron and additional underbody air deflectors,” said Michael Schiebe, CEO of Mercedes-AMG.

In person This supercar coupe impresses and enchants in equal parts.. ‘Beauty and Beast’ at the same time, the new AMG GT 63 PRO does not present major aesthetic differences with its predecessor, as the fair and necessary changes have been introduced to achieve the dynamic improvements that were sought. One of the most notable is the standard carbon fiber exterior package.

On the front, one of the elements that stands out the most is the new bumper with air inlets at the ends, which reinforce its presence and at the same time are very effective. Also new are the additional deflectors, the diffuser and a fixed rear wing that now generates 15 kg more downforce at high speed, contributing to improving the stability of the car.

To better cool the engine, especially when operating at full capacity, water cooling of the rear, center and front differentials has been used. Thus, we have two additional radiators in the wheel arches front and some transmission components have been improved using electric pumps.

In addition to these improvements, the new active aerodynamic profile on the underbody also contributes to reducing front axle loading, increasing steering precision and agility at the same time.

In addition to improved aerodynamics and new airflow management, Affalterbach engineers have improved the 4.0 l biturbo V8 heart of its predecessor, squeezing it up to 612 hp and 850 Nm. As brutal as it sounds. All this power is managed by a nine-speed AMG Speedshift transmission and sent to all four wheels on demand thanks to the AMG Performance 4Matic + all-wheel drive system.

The result is a 0 to 100 km/h that does not vary, but a 0-200 km/h in 10.9 seconds (0.5 seconds less) and a top speed of 317 km/h. As expected, the GT 63 PRO is equipped with practically all the chassis elements that AMG engineers are already familiar with.

Another important novelty is the powerful braking system with 420 mm diameter carbon ceramic discs on the front axle and calipers with up to 6 pistons in black.

To round off the set, we have specific 21” forged wheels that wrap Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires. As an option, but without extra cost, Pilot Sport Cup 2 R can be fitted, these being more suitable for the track than for the road.

The new AMG GT G3 PRO has a much more refined interior than that of the first generation of the model and Can be configured as a 2+2 seat at no additional cost. In addition, it now offers better visibility and a greater feeling of spaciousness. However, matching its exterior aesthetics, it maintains a certain connection with the motorsport.

As it could not be otherwise, the materials are of the highest quality and fit perfectly. In terms of ergonomics, the controls are very driver-oriented, something that is appreciated both on and off the track.

Among the elements that attract the most attention are the seats: you are practically sitting on the floor, but adjusting your position behind the wheel is now much easier. Signed by AMG Performance, they have perfect lateral support.

Another point to take into account is the five-spoke AMG Performance steering wheel made of Nappa leather and ‘MICROCUT’ Microfiber. In addition to cams, this has touch buttons and the round selector for driving modes, very easy to use.

On the center console, we find the 11.9” vertical screen (the same as the SL with which this car shares the platform), which is complemented by the 12.3” digital instrumentation. Regarding the trunk, it continues to offer a capacity of 321 liters, quite acceptable for a sports coupe more than 4.7 m long.

It is clear that the most important developments of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ 2025 They are designed to improve the performance and endurance of the supercar both on and off the track. But theory is nothing without practice, so what better plan than to put this sports car to the test at the Ascari Circuit in Malaga (Ronda, Spain).

In principle, the plan was difficult to overcome: the few privileged specialized journalists gathered there, from all over the world, would do five laps in each round. The first just for acclimatization, three more cheerful laps and one more leisurely one to cool down. To nail the line we would follow, in turn, two luxury hares: the German pilots Peter Ebner and Bernd Schneiderfive-time DTM champion.

All units had Pirelli Cup 2R, semi-slicks circuit specific. But the day had dawned closed and gray, and the untimely rain was not going to make it easy when it came time to squeeze the car. At least for me, although I particularly enjoy circuit driving whenever I can, I am not a professional driver.

He trazado de AscariAt 5,425 meters, it is the longest in Spain and perhaps one of the most technical as well, with a very fast and undulating track that includes up to 26 curves (13 right, 13 left). Ascari is relentless and, as the AMG engineers told us, we were soon able to see that it is a great track to test the dynamics of the vehicle.

After finishing the first lap for contact with a smile on, we have almost forgotten that it is raining, and our hare tells us walkie Let’s select ‘Race’ mode on the steering wheel. Ebner is capable of putting his car through its paces while, keeping an eye on us at all times, he adjusts to our pace and gives us the best advice. “You won’t even notice that it’s raining,” he tells me. And so it was.

You start accelerating the V8 on the straight and the 10.9 seconds that the car advertises from 0 to 200 km/h suddenly become plausible, almost without realizing it. The aerodynamic and technological improvements incorporated in the 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ are noticeable when we reach our limit in Ascari, towards our second set of laps following Peter alone. Needless to say, our limit has nothing to do with that of the car: it always asks for more.

Cornering stability, thanks to the combination of active aerodynamics and all-wheel drive, is impressive. AMG’s exquisite system intelligently diverts power to where it’s needed most, or directly to the rear if you wish.

In this case, it works together with active suspension control (standard) for active roll stabilization and a rear-wheel steering system. When attacking fast corners, the car seems to adhere tightly to the asphalt, always staying on the exact path that we set for it.

Despite the wet conditions, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires gave us a surprising feeling of total control, even in the wettest sections.

In “Race” mode, the car feels so agile that it almost seems to be reading your mind, but in the most basic mode the gear changes are tremendously agile, allowing you to make the most of the power range of the V8 biturbo engine in any situation.

Braking is another highlight, with ceramic brakes that not only offer brutal efficiency, but also a precision that allows you to modulate corner entry effectively, ensuring a clean and fast line. Lap after lap, the AMG GT 63 PRO maintained its composure, and even when exiting the more technical corners, where the car had to deal with elevation changes and wet asphalt, the response was absolutely unflappable.

When Peter told me it was time to return to the pits, with the water falling harder and harder, adrenaline was pouring out of my ears. But it was time to impose reason on the heart, the dream ended and it was time to return to reality. As I got out of the AMG, he approached me, congratulated me on my progress on each lap and asked me how it was going. Excited, I just remember saying: My goodness, what a car!

Audi has killed coupes because they are not profitable, just when it has given birth to the first and very expensive supercar that should have been born almost 100 years ago

Price and conclusions of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ 2025

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ 2025

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ 2025 is, without a doubt, one of the most balanced and versatile supercars that I have had the opportunity to test in recent years. It combines the best of both worlds: the brutality of a track car with greater comfort and ease of use on the road.

In demanding conditions, such as those at the Ascari circuit in the rain, it was tireless, always demanding more and giving the driver confidence, both in its braking capacity and stability in fast corners and straights.

It is a car that will delight the most demanding customers, especially those who can take advantage of a few days on the track, where they can be enjoyed more fully. The price for this wonder has not yet been set, but when it hits the market, expectedly in the first half of 2025, It is expected that it will be around 200,000 euros (the ‘normal’ GT63 costs about 170,000).

However, the driving experience it offers, together with its refined interior and the possibility of configuring it with both a practical and sporty approach, justify every euro. A car for purists, but also for those looking for more than just pure speed.
