a basis for Rapido’s Distinction range

Motorhome manufacturer Rapido is launching its new premium Distinction range, based exclusively on the Mercedes Sprinter rigid.

The new flagship of Quick symbolizes the know-how of Mercedes and the Mayenne motorhome manufacturer Rapido, who have worked together for more than 20 years.

Mercedes Sprinter: a premium carrier

The Rapido Distinction premium range consists of four motorhome models, all based on a potter Mercedes Sprinter : i66M, i96M (7.54 meters long), i166M and i196M (8.15 meters long), still based on Al-Ko chassis. These high-end integral motorhomes are the flagships of the French manufacturer, which combine the two “M” and “Distinction” series usually offered until now.
Launched at the end of 2017, this third generation of Sprinter is offered in versions propulsion, 4×4 et châssis traction (powerhead), which offered new opportunities for motorhome manufacturers.
“For the third generation of Sprinter launched in 2017, the Mercedes-Benz teams, in France and at the German headquarters, have always provided us with excellent support during development. And this from the pre-project phase to production, thanks to numerous sales and after-sales information supports”specifies Thierry Rocher, Technical Director and Vehicle Approvals of the Rapido group.

Many security systems

The regulations GSR II (General Safety Regulation 2) of the European Union will only become mandatory in 2026 for leisure vehicles in the VASP category. However, Mercedes-Benz Vans has decided to apply it this year to its entire range of utility vehicles, which therefore also benefits Sprinters intended to be transformed into motorhomes.
The Rapido teams have therefore integrated a new radar sensor, a camera on the front for sign recognition, the lane detector, as well as extended emergency braking, not forgetting a high-definition reversing camera. The first deliveries of Rapido models compliant with GSR II regulations will take place during theyear 2025.
Rapido models will therefore integrate numerous security systemssuch as active assisted emergency braking, drowsiness alert, active lane departure warning, reversing camera, or even a speed limit assistant.

The 2025 model year of the Rapido Distinction range is also powered by a 2.0-liter Mercedes engine developing 170 horsepowerassociated with a 9G Tronic 9-speed automatic gearbox.
