The body slipped out of the coffin and then out of the car, ending up on the street. Witnesses reported seeing the body on a pedestrian crossing and some of them thought it was an accident, according to Sky News. In fact, the body had fallen from the funeral company’s car. The incident took place on Friday in Stalowa Wola, a city in the south-east of Poland.
The company issued a public apology “to all those who were disappointed and upset by this event” saying that a machine malfunction was to blame.
“It is with deep regret that we inform you that, following an unexpected technical failure of the tailgate, during the transport of the body, an unfortunate event occurred that does not reflect the high standards of our company. Our deep empathy towards the families of the deceased and the respect we always show to the deceased”, company representatives wrote on the website.
