A budget smartphone with 6 years of software support

Samsung recently expanded its range of affordable smartphones with the launch of the Galaxy A16 4G.

This new device comes shortly after the presentation of the 5G version on October 7.

Design and durability

The model stands out for its elegant design. It has a thin profile of only 7.9 mm, which makes it slimmer than the previous model.

Samsung says this reduction means no compromises on durability or the way it works.

The South Korean company has integrated IP54 certification for dust and water resistance, a first for this smartphone series.

Technical specifications and performance

The display is a 6.7-inch AMOLED with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The processor is the MediaTek Helio G99, the same chip used for its predecessor.

The standard configuration includes 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage space, which can be expanded via a microSD slot that supports cards up to 1 TB.

Rooms and features

The device comes in three attractive color options: green, gray and blue, all with a stylish matte finish.

As for the cameras, the phone has a 50-megapixel main one accompanied by a 5-megapixel sensor, plus a 2-megapixel macro camera.

Selfie fans can use the 13-megapixel front-facing camera (this also works for video calls).

Updates and autonomy

Galaxy A16 4G variant offers 6 years of operating system updates and security patches.

The operating system is Android 14. It has a 5,000 mAh battery and support for fast charging at 25W. As expected, the box does not come with a charger.

Price and availability

Although the exact price has not yet been announced, the Galaxy A16 4G is expected to be more affordable than the 5G version, which is priced at 249 euros.

The launch is scheduled for November in France, with pan-European availability likely around the same time.
