A Chinese did the worst in tests of cruise control and other safety systems

Euro NCAP is known to most people as the organization that tests cars and awards them up to five stars based on how well they do in crash tests and driver assistance system tests. Now the new group of cars has passed the Euro NCAP driver assistance system tests and received stars – the highest rating in this test is four stars.

As he states HAK magazine, BMW i5 and Mercedes C-Class are the two cars that got four out of four this time, i.e. the maximum very good as an overall rating. Mercedes stands out in particular with 85 and 97 percent points in the categories of assistance systems and safety support. The results for the BMW i5 were 76 and 90. The assessment of the competence of the assistance system monitors the balance between the engagement of the driver and the system in the cars, while the assessment of the so-called Safety Backup monitors the car’s ability to avoid accidents, for example if the driver is not paying attention or has lost consciousness.

Both the Volvo EC40 (66%/78%) and the Volkswagen ID.7 (70%/80%) achieve three out of four stars and an overall rating of good. The Volvo was particularly penalized for its lack of driver control – with the car receiving 0 out of 25 points. In the same category, ID.7 scores only 5 out of 25 points.

At the back of the grade – not recommended – is the BYD Atto 3 with its intelligent adaptive cruise control. The assistance system did not correctly interpret traffic signs and received only modest ratings. The car did not reach the minimum standards in Safety Backup, the performance of the adaptive cruise control is poor when the Atto 3 encounters a stationary vehicle, and the systems also do nothing when the driver does not react.
