A Chinese vehicle manufacturer has created its own ‘Cybertruck’

The Changan Nevo E07 pickup appeared in a video on an English-language YouTube channel.

China has been dictating a ruthless pace on the EV market for years. According to competitors, a business policy based on cheap models started with state subsidies seems to bring the hoped-for benefits, although as a result, after the USA and Canada, the EU is also preparing to introduce protective tariffs in the near future. Although this is the reason why China is most often in the news, there is much more to the Asian country’s vehicle industry than that.

A Chinese manufacturer has now launched a pickup that looks a lot like Tesla’s Cybertruck. The car-themed YouTube channel called Wheelsboy discovered and presented the impressive epigon, which, according to the site producing English-language video content, is even better than the original in terms of certain functions.

One of the biggest successes of the EV market was the release of Tesla’s long-awaited model, the Cybertruck, last year. The brand’s first van has enjoyed tremendous hype in the country of pickup lovers since its launch, and contrary to the usual schedule, the increased interest has not completely passed even now, as the futuristic car became available worldwide.

Perhaps it is also thanks to this that the Chagan Nevo E07 counterpart got its recognizable shape. The content producer who discovered the model leaves no doubt as to what the design of the Chinese van reminds him of, as he uses the name “Chinese Cybertruck” in the published video. And if you look at it, the sloping roofline is really unmistakable.

According to the channel’s content producer, what makes the new Chagan model even better than the original is the trunk, which at first glance looks like any other hatchback crossover. However, if you press a button, the piece of glass covering the rear window section slides up towards the roof and creates an emblematic open platform, typical of pickups, which can be further expanded by folding down the interior partition.

The vehicle’s payload capacity is 300 kg, so it is not suitable for towing too large or heavy things, but it can also be a good choice for fishing, hunting and camping. Based on its size, it could be called medium, since it is bigger than a Hyundai Santa Cruz, but a whole meter shorter than a four-door Ford Ranger. The video report does not reveal much more specifics about Cybertruck’s Chinese challenger. It’s also unclear if it will be available outside of China at some point.
