- Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius presents a small taster with the excitement of the expected Mercedes-Benz CLA, which is due to arrive on the market next year.
- With the CLA model, Mercedes-Benz redefines the approach to the brand by raising product and technological standards.
- As shown in the Concept CLA Class study, this model is supposed to be the leader in its class in terms of range, efficiency and charging speed.
During the first drive at the Mercedes-Benz test site in Immendingen, Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius gives a glimpse of the next generation of the CLA model. In this video format, the head of Mercedes-Benz previously tested the electric G-Class in Austria and Sweden to show viewers future products with a star. After last year’s drive to the Schöckl hill, Ola reunites with host Sarah Harman to reveal more details about the upcoming CLA, which will debut in 2025.
This new model is the first of a family of new vehicles and heralds a new chapter for the entry-level segment of the Mercedes-Benz brand. Designed to set new standards in range, efficiency and charging speed, the CLA offers customers a choice between an advanced electric drivetrain and a state-of-the-art electrified combustion engine. While this vehicle is still a camouflaged prototype, Ola Källenius reveals the headlight design in a video:
“With the CLA, we are introducing a new era for the Mercedes-Benz brand. Our goal is to set new standards in every aspect of what customers can expect from Mercedes in this segment. The modular platform allows us the greatest possible flexibility: we can offer the CLA with a state-of-the-art electric drivetrain as well as a hybrid electrified internal combustion engine. And our MB.OS operating system makes the CLA the most intelligent vehicle we’ve ever made.”
Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mercedes-Benz Group AG
Drivetrain
The electric version of the CLA vehicle integrates technology from the EQXX concept into series production. Mercedes‑Benz has developed the next generation of electric drive units, which will ensure high performance and efficiency. Thanks to the two-speed transmission, sporty performance and efficiency are perfectly balanced.
The CLA will also be available with a newly developed state-of-the-art hybrid combustion engine. Part of the MMA family of vehicles, this engine uses 48-volt technology combined with a new electrified transmission that provides a highly efficient and enjoyable driving experience.
MBUX and MB.OS virtual assistant
The CLA 2025 will be the first vehicle equipped with the new Mercedes‑Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which includes the MBUX virtual assistant with artificial intelligence support. This system improves the relationship between vehicle and driver through natural, intuitive interaction and proactive support.
Design
The CLA will take over elements of the Concept CLA Class study, including new, distinctive headlights that are shown for the first time in the video. The design will emphasize a sporty look and modern aesthetics.
