Fracturing shale gas and crude oil extraction involves a greater environmental burden than the traditional extraction method, and therefore great controversy surrounds the procedure. However, with the help of this, in recent years, the United States has become one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of natural gas.
Partly due to the separation from Russian gas and the avoidance of tariff increases launched by Trump, also aimed at Europe
the European Union has already announced that it may buy more liquefied natural gas from the United States.
On the American side of this, steps to increase production will surely be catalyzed by the new designation.
