A competition is being held for 5 wind projects

A new competition era in RENEWABLE energy has begun. The Renewable Energy Resource Area (YEKA) competition announcement was published in the Official Gazette yesterday.

The announcement published for five projects in three provinces in wind energy includes a total capacity of 1,200 megawatts (MWe). Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar stated that they will hold YEKA tenders with a capacity of at least 2 thousand megawatts every year and said that they will put them into operation quickly.

APPLICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE ON JANUARY 21

According to the YEKA RES-2024 competition announcement for wind energy, five competitions based on wind energy will be held in order to allocate the connection capacity with a total power of 1,200 MWe. Legal entities established as joint stock companies or limited companies in accordance with the Turkish Commercial Code and foreign companies with capital company status can participate in the competition. Applications will be made on January 21, 2025. The location and date of the competitions will be published on the ministry’s website.

CEILING AND BASE PRICES HAVE BEEN DETERMINED

The competition starting ceiling price for each competition was determined as 5.50 dollars-cent/kWh, and the base price was determined as 3.50 dollars-cent/kWh. If the base price is reached, the starting price for increasing the contribution margin per MW will be 10 thousand dollars. The 72-month period during which the electricity produced from the contract signing date was sold in the free market was defined as the “Free Market Sales Period”. The “Electric Energy Purchase Period” will cover 20 years, when the electrical energy produced after the end of the Free Market Sales Period is given to the transmission system.
