A forty-three-year-old Czech woman died on Wednesday while paragliding in northern India, Indian media reported today. When asked by ČTK, the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the death of a Czech citizen, according to him, the accident happened in Nepal. According to indiatimes.com, the woman lost control of her paraglider in strong winds and crashed into the mountainside. She was declared brought dead after being taken to a hospital in Manali.

The spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mariana Wernerová, told ČTK in the evening that the Czech embassy in India is in contact with the group with which the deceased was in the mountains, as well as with the survivors. Czech diplomats in Delhi cooperate with the honorary consul in Nepal, where the Czech Republic does not have a representative office.

The Indian server wrote that in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, which is surrounded by the Himalayas, the paragliding world cup will be held from Saturday. In March of this year, a Czech tourist died while paragliding in western Morocco. After an intensive search, in which a helicopter was also involved, rescuers fished his body out of the water.
