A dangerous bacterium was found in the popular crisp, and it was immediately taken off the shelves

Due to the possible presence of Salmonella, Biopont Kft. has recalled 75 gram cheese-onion organic sorghum balls from the market, the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) announced.

The recall concerns the 75-gram cheese-onion organic sorghum ball products with a shelf life of June 16, 2025.

Nébih asks customers not to consume the products affected by the recall.

The authority on its websitethat salmonellosis is an infectious disease caused by salmonella bacteria. These bacteria most often enter the body through food, less often through water or dirty hands.

Typical symptoms are diarrhoea, vomiting, high fever, but in milder cases only fever and depression are experienced, or the infection may be asymptomatic. Salmonella bacteria are destroyed by thorough baking and cooking. The disease can be particularly dangerous for small children, the elderly, and people with weakened bodies.
