Social networks are discussing a post by Daugavpils resident Jekaterina about the need to be sensitive to people around us. Latvian media write about this.
A post by a Daugavpils resident was published in one of the popular groups on the social network Facebook:
«I’ll try to be brief. Rush hour after 17:00, our bridge over the Daugava, driving from Yudovka to the center.
Traffic flow, speed – 10 km/h. Before turning onto the bridge (where police often like to stand) a couple of cars ahead I see a man falling next to a pedestrian crossing!!! No one stopped!!!
When I passed by, he was already sitting on the road, and, you know, any large vehicle like a bus or a truck could not even notice him and simply run him over…
I stopped the car with the hazard lights on so as not to interfere with others driving, and ran to this man. After all, no one knows what happened to him. Heart, stumble, alcohol? Yes, he smelled of alcohol. But is that the only thing that matters? Of course, I helped him, tried to lift him up, but I couldn’t do it even after three attempts. When I started to slow down cars, hoping for help from a strong man, no one stopped!!! NO ONE!!!
Why am I writing here… Mommies, just tell your Daddies that sometimes you need to react to the situation and help people when they ask for help, especially on the roads of our city, raising your hand and asking for help with your eyes!
All the best and take care of each other!».
