A decrease in the number of building permits issued in Serbia was recorded

According to the latest data of the Republic Institute of Statistics, 2,653 building permits were issued in July this year, which is 2% less than in the same period last year. Of this number, the majority of permits, 83.5% to be exact, refer to the construction of buildings, while the remaining 16.5% cover other types of construction facilities.

When looking at building permits, 81.7% is intended for residential buildingswhile 18.3% is intended for non-residential buildings. In other construction projects, the most permits are related to infrastructure projects such as pipelines and power lines, which make up 69.2% of this category.

Based on the building permits issued in July 2024, a total of 3,001 apartments are planned to be builtwith an average area of ​​74.8 square meters per apartment. Of the total number of apartments that will be built in new residential buildings, 12.5% ​​will be located in buildings with one apartment, whereby the average size of these apartments will be 140.9 square meters.

85.5% of the apartments will be built in buildings containing three or more residential units, where the average apartment size is significantly smaller and amounts to 63.9 square meters.

The Republic Institute of Statistics states that the predicted value of new construction in July 2024 makes up 79.5% of the total estimated value of construction works for that month.

When looking at the geographical distribution of construction activity, the most new construction projects are expected in the Mačvan regionwhich participates with 25.4% in the total value of the planned works. Belgrade region takes second place with 17%, followed by Severnobačka region with 6.8%, Srem region with 5.9% and Nišava region with 5.2%. Other areas have a smaller share in the total value of works, ranging from 0.1% to 4.5%.
