A doctor and his physiotherapist wife defrauded insurance companies and the CPAM for more than two million euros

For nearly six years, a doctor from Boulogne-sur-Mer (Pas-de-Calais) and his partner, a physiotherapist, defrauded various insurance companies and the Primary Health Insurance Fund (CPAM) in their area. The enormous damage caused earned the couple prison sentences and the obligation to reimburse the victims according to the Voice of the North.

Their little fraud business was running at full speed. On the one hand, the doctor was unduly collecting compensation from his insurers, paid thanks to successive prescriptions of complacent sick leave. Amount of the damage: 1.8 million euros.

Six months in prison for her, one year for him

In addition to this, he billed the health insurance for imaginary medical acts estimated at more than 100,000 euros. His physiotherapist partner engaged in the same practices, although to a lesser extent. She will nevertheless have to reimburse her insurers nearly 230,000 euros.

A large part of the embezzled money was used by the couple to buy property, real estate for the doctor and land for the physiotherapist. Assets that were partly seized to repay the more than 2 million euros that they owe to insurance companies and the CPAM. In addition, on Tuesday, the Boulogne-sur-Mer court sentenced the husband to one year in prison and his partner to six months in prison.
