The stories that live home delivery workers Over the course of a day it is enough for several films of all genres, or almost, but I never thought it would be enough for a Western. A Texas delivery driver encountered three jeans on top of their horses in the middle of a road and one of them shot him.
That installment already started badly for Matthew, the involuntary protagonist of this strange story. On the way to a delivery in a town in Fort Bend County, he encounters a traffic jam of several cars on what is more of a rural track than a highway. A traffic jam caused by three jeans on horseback that prevent cars from passing.
Cowboys and deliveryman in a duel at dusk
“I find a long line of cars. The traffic jam is because of these three cowboys on horses,” Matthew told a local television station after publishing his story in Reddit. “It is clear to me that they were looking to create problems.” Matthew was on his way to make a delivery in Fort Bend County, Texas, when he ran into the riders blocking both lanes.
Some drivers with pickups and SUVs, tired of being behind the three riders, overtook them along the side of the road as best they could. But not even with those the supposed cowboys moved. And finally it’s Matthew’s turn to do the same maneuver, but he drives a Hyundai Sonata, so driving the car into the ditch doesn’t seem like the most sensible idea. Roll down the window and please ask them to move over so I can pass. “They tell me to shut the f*** up,” he explains.
“I immediately tried once again to avoid them by going the furthest path from my previous attempts, but the rider on the left quickly got in front of me again, forcing me to slam on the brakes and let out a loud ‘what the f***’. , which apparently made the cowboy go into a rage when he heard me,” he says on Reddit.
That’s when things got more bizarre and dangerous. “One of them got off his horse. Another rider got to my right and blocked me. And then the one who got down in front of me said that my head was going to burst”Matthew says, at the same time that he pulled out a gun and pointed it at Matthew’s head.
At that moment, survival instinct caused him to put his right foot on the accelerator and he managed to get away from the three cowboys without running over any of the riders or their mounts. Almost immediately he hears an explosion and doesn’t give it any more importance. He continues on his way until he reaches the main road while he is talking to the police on the phone and sees in the rearview mirror how the three horsemen of nonsense try to follow him on horseback.
It is only a few moments later, at a nearby gas station, when one of the police officers who arrived notices that the trunk door has been hit by a bullet.
They open the trunk, see a hole in the back of the back seat and a bent frying pan. On the floor of the car, behind the driver’s seat, the bullet. If it weren’t for a frying pan that his aunt insisted he take, Matthew would have a bullet in his back and might not be able to tell this story.
And now comes the last straw. Matthew was making a delivery for Door Dashthe largest home delivery company in the United States. Logically, it was late for delivery; three hours later, specifically. The woman waiting for the order understood the situation and Door Dash was aware of what happened.
“The customer added a whopping $10 tip to the order when I left, bringing my total delivery earnings to $10. 25 dollars for almost being murdered”Matthew wrote. But DoorDash decided that it had taken too long and they were going to proceed to suspend his delivery driver account.
Matthew vented on Reddit and the thread went viral, even attracting television attention. The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate. Meanwhile, Matthew pushes for justice and shares his story so no one else ends up in the same situation.
