The Fire Department was alerted at noon today, Friday, July 19, for a fire that broke out on the mountain of Kithairona, between Erythra Attica, Vilia and Agios Nektarios.
More specifically, the fire broke out in a wooded area, while very strong winds are blowing in the area. The huge cloud of smoke is visible from Thebes, as reported by radiothiva.gr, which published a related video.
The authorities proceeded with the preventive evacuation of a children’s camp of the municipality of Aspropyrgos in Villas. At the same time, at 14:30 in the afternoon, the authorities informed that they are proceeding with the diversion of vehicles on the provincial road Oinois – Porto Germenou at the height of Kithaironos street.
Firefighting forces are constantly being reinforced. 110 firefighters, 5 pedestrian units, 25 vehicles, 3 aircraft and 7 helicopters are operating at the scene.
