In the derby between Košice and Slovan, things really sparkled on the ice.

After seventeen rounds, Petr Oremus’ wards are in an unflattering seventh place in the table. They fell to her after losing their last five games.

The last time the Slavonians enjoyed a victory was on October 18, when they succeeded after overtime on the ice of their rival from Košice. They last took all three points five days earlier after a win over Spišská Nova Vsa.

But now the ambitious team, which wants to rebuild its reputation after a botched last season, is in crisis.

Therefore, the management decided to do something about the unflattering situation, during which the team is under fire from fans.

It has already announced in advance that it will not proceed to the traditional step – changing the head coach. On the contrary, he and his closest collaborators stand behind him, and therefore the most serious changes will occur in the player squad.

Five new faces will be added to it immediately. Each of them from a different country.

Defender Jonas Ahnelöv, an extremely experienced, 36-year-old Swede with national team experience, is returning to the club.

Slovan’s back lines will also be strengthened by Luke Green, a Canadian ten years younger, who last played in the German DEL in Dusseldorf. Before that, he worked in Slovakia in the colors of Nitra.

The new goalkeeper should also take care that the defense stands on firm feet. After the departure of Kazakh Andrej Šutov, Finn Henri Kiviaho is the team.

The thirty-year-old northerner last worked in Sweden, in the Malmo club. In Slovakia, he previously fished in Nové Zámky.

Vadim Pereskokov also has experience with the Slovak extra league. The 31-year-old attacker spent the last three seasons here – in Michalovce, Humenno and Liptovský Mikuláš.

Czech Jonáš Peterek should also strengthen the offensive. The only 23-year-old forward started the current year in Liberec, but from there he went to second division Litoměřice.

There are plenty of new names in the white jersey. For now, it remains questionable which of the current players will have to leave the team.

The representatives of the club should reveal more on Monday, when they called a press conference.
