A gang stole nearly HUF 600 million worth of VR headsets, but they didn’t just steal Meta’s shipment –

The perpetrators also attacked the trucks of Microsoft, Sony, Logitech, JBL and Bose.

Six men have been charged in the United States for stealing VR headsets, high-tech gadgets, quad bikes and more in bulk. From Kentucky to Ohio and Tennessee to Indiana, they raided a number of locations in the United States, typically using the method of spying on distribution centers and then tracking shipments leaving from there. As soon as the driver stopped at a gas station or truck stop to eat, fill up, or go to the bathroom, they took advantage of the opportunity to hang out with the unguarded delivery vehicle. Then when they got far enough, they connected the tow truck to their own truck and drove on.

Their loot included a truck carrying Meta VR headsets, which two of the six-person gang began tracking from Louisville, Kentucky on May 6, 2022. According to the court documents, the value of the shipment was about 1.5 million dollars (approx. HUF 587 million). They boarded the vehicle at a truck stop and drove it all the way to Vanderburgh County, where they left the tow truck behind and continued their escape using their own. In order to avoid detection, the logo and identification of the stolen tractor unit were usually painted over, and the license plate was also changed. Most of what was stolen was recovered from the same dealer in Dade County, Florida for a fraction of the value of the items – writes a 404 Media.

Meta was not the only target of the gang, on August 31, 2022, a truck full of Microsoft products was blown up. Its value was 940 thousand dollars. In the same year, on November 7, one shipment each from Sony and Hamon-JPL was raided for a total of 530,000 dollars. But they weren’t bored in 2023 either, then they tied up trucks filled with Logitech, JBL, Meta, Bose products, and among their booty were CF Moto quads, Victoria’s Secret underwear, and Bath and Body Works beauty products worth $1 million .
