A garbage collector discovered a working gaming computer dumped in a landfill. After minor repairs and cleaning, it became a powerful computer that would still cost thousands of dollars today.
A garbage collector, known on Reddit as Siezio, found a treasure at work – in the trash he discovered a powerful gaming computer with an AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X processor and an NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti graphics card. The computer, which was once a top-of-the-line model costing over $3,000, only needed a new drive, a power supply replacement, and a thorough cleaning. After the repairs, the machine worked without any problems.
The Threadripper 3970X processor with 32 cores was launched in 2019 for a whopping $1,999, the RTX 2080 Ti graphics card was introduced a year earlier with a price of $999. Although these are older components, they still keep up with modern mid-rangers in terms of performance. Both components would be worth around $1,000 in today’s market.
During his work, Siezio has already found many valuables, such as power tools, a working keyboard or even a chainsaw that only needed to change the spark plug. But he considers this gaming PC to be his biggest catch. Comments on Reddit were unanimous in questioning why someone would throw away such a build without trying to sell or repair it.
