Several other high-ranking Hezbollah members were also killed.

“Following precise reconnaissance, Israeli air force fighter jets carried out a targeted strike in the Beirut area, eliminating the commander of Radwan’s unit, Ibrahim Akil,” as well as other “high-ranking figures in Radwan’s operational network and chain of command,” the army said in a statement.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that the Israeli strike killed eight people and wounded nearly 60. The condition of several injured people is said to be critical.

Israeli rockets hit at least two buildings in the southern suburbs of Beirut, local media reported.

This is the first such attack by Israel on the Lebanese capital in recent months.
